GettingHired Celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month!

Celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month through October!

GettingHired's NDEAM and Virtual Career Fair

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) which aims to educate the public about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities.

Why is NDEAM important?

This is an annual nationwide opportunity for employers and employees to share information, ideas and resources to foster a more inclusive workforce, one where every person is recognized for his or her abilities — every day of every month. Suggestions range from simple, such as putting up a poster, to comprehensive, such as implementing a disability education program. The theme for this year — which marks 70 years since the first observance — is "My Disability is One Part of Who I Am."

Employers and employees in all industries can get involved in lots of ways and can promote its messages — during October and throughout the year — by visiting the ODEP website at www.dol.gov/odep/ndeam and www.whatcanyoudocampaign.org

GettingHired is celebrating this month with our upcoming Virtual Career Fair, 3 part educational webinar on 'The Journey of a Job Seeker With A Disability', sharing articles and resources on employment and disability topics through our blog and social media and many of our employer partners are joining us in spreading awareness.
